Internationals Week, Day 7, Arsenal boys going to World Cup

Morning everyone, I know we all hate the interlull because it deprives us of the Arsenal but there were some exciting World Cup qualifiers yesterday it has to be said.  England's was fun to watch, there was nothing Green could do about the sending off and with us down to 10 the game was well matched.  We were on top of the match for most of it but they were breaking well and we couldn't really break them down with Rooney being as selfish a player as I've ever seen and on one of the few occasions he wasn't Super Fat Frank missed his chance.  We've already qualified but Ukrain's win has hurt Eduardo's chances of appearing this summer.

Congratulations to Nik Bendtner who will be going to the World Cup after Denmark beat Sweden, good for him, I'm looking forward to seeing him there.

It looks like Tomas Rosicky isn't going anywhere this summer as Czech Republic don't really stand a chance, sitting in 3rd in their group.  It's a shame for him, he had a stonking World Cup last time out and then missed out on the Euro's because of his injury and now the World Cup because with his help through all the qualifiers Czech just couldn't manage.

Arshavin and Russia were unlucky to lose to 10 man Germany, as they should have had a penalty late on.  They've clinched a play off spot though and will be seeded high so they'll have a good chance of being there.

Gallas scored for France they smashed 5 past the Faroe Islands and won a play off spot so bar any cock up or injuries we'll see Sagna, Clichy, Diaby, Gallas, Theirry Henry and maybe even Nasri in the summer.  With their players they really ought to be a lot better.

Alex Song and Camaroon beat Adebayor 3-0 to top their group and kill Togo's chances of traveling this summer.  Go fuck yourself Adebayor.

Eboue has qualified with the Ivory Coast.

For the U21's Theo set up Gibbs for England's first against Macedonia and Jack Wilshere took the corner that led to the second.  Gibbs scored an own goal as well, but never mind that, England won 6-3.

In some other news, it's not surprising to hear that Real Madrid are trying to poach two of our youngsters.  They're apparently going to try and sign Gael Clichy in the summer and like the looks of Fran Merida, who says he's flattered.  Who knows if there's any merit to any of this but I really can't see Clichy leaving.  I don't think any of us would like to see him go.  As for Fran Merida, I wouldn't like to see him go either.  He's an excellent prospect and has been touted as better than Fabregas at the same age, but as Fabregas is in his way and he's behind Rosicky and Aaron Ramsey in the pecking order.  He's much more likely to go but Madrid have a lot of center mids too and I can't really see him breaking in there before he does at Arsenal.

That's all there is, here's another video,
